FUN ARCADE

SHARE THE FUN
Fun Arcade is an Arcade located in Downtown Toronto. They offer both new big title arcade games and classic virtual arcade games. With new arcade machines installed in the shop, Fun Arcade is looking to expand its business online by having its own mobile app. Working with Fun Arcade, I designed an app for players to check out the events and previews of their new games.

I designed for over 1000 monthly potential customers visiting Fun Arcade regularly.
The Challenge
Customers are concerned about what the games are like at Fun Arcades. There are also complaints about wasting money on confusing games. Fun Arcade wishes to create a preview app for their arcade games, so the customers will understand the games and receive event updates before visiting.
WIREFRAME CONCEPTS
The Research
I conducted interviews and analyses to define the best mobile experience for Fun Arcade. I aligned customers’ primary pain points (preview of games) with secondary pain points (game instructions) and designed an experience that displays precise information to customers while also recommending new games based on their preferences.

Visual Language
I studied over 10 gaming related apps to create Fun Arcade’s brand guidelines. I used gradients that is inclusive to all genders visiting the Arcade as well as easy-to-use decorative graphical elements.

Play & Review
Under the game page, users are able to review the game after playing at the arcade, providing valuable feedbacks for other players. These ratings will help new customers to determine which games are the right ones for them.

90% of the users from usability tests are looking forward to the launch of this App.

The Impact
Fun Arcade App helps their to preview games before going to the arcade. It also helps the arcade to get more exposure to what they offer on the internet.
One quote from peer feedback:
“Oh, they actually have a Halo game! That’s so cool, I might check out this arcade someday.”
